The Parish of Dunkeld Handbell
Ringers
The
group was formed in October 2002 and is now a large and very active
group. They have performed throughout Perthshire and beyond,
ringing in Nursing Homes, Day Centres and Garden Centres, for Guilds, Rurals,
Craft Fairs, Flower Festivals etc. and participate in Church services. They have
been recorded for Hospital Radio, Perth and provided entertainment at such
notable venues as Perth Concert Hall, Scone Palace, Dundee Flower Show and, very
exciting for the ringers, in the Abbey on the Island of Iona. Since its
formation, the group has raised over £1000 each year for the benefit of local
charities.
The group is led by Heather I. McLean, who is also one of the
country's few handbell soloists. Heather is in much demand as a soloist
and performs in Dunkeld Cathedral on Wednesday afternoons throughout the summer,
from Easter through to the end of September.
Dunkeld Tourist Information Office is always informed
regarding the few occasions when Heather will not be ringing. Please check
before travelling Tel: 01350 727688
The group rehearses in Dunkeld on Thursday afternoons.
